Er hat den Lehrerseminar in Chur absolviert und danach Romanistik in Z\u00fcrich und Paris studiert. Peer war Gymnasiallehrer f\u00fcr Franz\u00f6sisch und Italienisch in Winterthur (1952-1983) und Dozent f\u00fcr R\u00e4toromanische Sprache und Literatur an der Universit\u00e4t Z\u00fcrich. Er hat sich auch im Vorstand der Uniun da scripturs rumantschs und der Autoren der Schweiz sowie als Pr\u00e4sident vom P.E.N.-Club der italienischen und franz\u00f6sischen Schweiz engagiert. Zahlreiche Gedichtpublikationen, Erz\u00e4hlungen, Dramen, Essays und journalistische Texte zwischen 1945 und 1985. Von der modernen europ\u00e4ischen Lyrik beeinflusst, entwickelt Andri Peer neue lyrische Formen und macht sich als Erneuerer der poesia rumantscha einen Namen.
